Two of the logistics industry's most experienced professionals, Gerry Hatton and Greg Herridge, have assumed the roles of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer respectively, at Moveit Pty. Ltd., developers of the popular web-based order delivery management service - "Moveitnet".
Gerry Hatton founded Colby Handling Systems in 1967. Over the next 30 years he grew the business to employ over 300 people and generate a turnover of more than $100m. The Colby business was sold to Mannesmann Dematic of Germany (now Dematic Pty Ltd) in 1997. He brings a wealth of distribution and logistics-related knowledge and experience to Moveit.
Greg Herridge joined Moveit in September 2005 following 15 years as founder and Managing Director of supply chain systems specialist Right On Line Pty Limited. He was also a director of The Boyd Group, providing a range of professional services and technology-based solutions to manufacturing, wholesale, transportation and retail clients in the public and private sector. Greg brings extensive Supply Chain and I.T. expertise to Moveit. He has been personally involved in more than 100 supply chain improvement projects, and has written and presented many papers at major conferences and management education forums such as the annual Senior Management Logistics School, Mt. Eliza Business School and Logistics Association of Australia seminars.

The introduction of Moveitnet was the subject of a paper presented at last year's SMART Conference by John Hore, National Logistics Manager, Clipsal Australia.
John reported that since implementing Moveitnet, Clipsal was achieving savings in excess of $1 million a year through freight consolidation, the elimination of human error in completing freight documentation, and improved productivity, doubling turnover with the same staff.
These savings were further boosted by an overall reduction in debtors by 2-3 days, which freed up an additional $2-3 million in cash flow. Other benefits described as being priceless to the business were optimising carrier cost and performance, and customer service levels. |
